1676: Contract is signed between the king of France and Congregation of Daughters of Charity. Daughters of Charity are assigned to run l’Hôtel des Invalides (hospital for disabled and veterans) in Paris. At the beginning the hospital was planned for 250 – 300 beds. Finally, 30 sisters took care for some 2000 patients. They were responsible for kitchen, pharmacy, clothes and furniture warehouses and infirmary for 24 hours a day.
1829: In Paris. The Chamber of Deputes discusses legal existence of Lazarists. The debate lasted for four hours. Finally, due to intervention of minister for church affairs — msgr Feutrier, the bishop of Beauvais — the House of Deputes voting unanimously declared that Congregation of the Mission is legal.
1880: Plaisance. The first issue of «Divus Thomas» is published. This review of philosophy and theology was founded by Fr Albert Barberis CM. It was recognized and awarded by pope Leo XIII and Superiors General of the Congregation.
1933: Fr Joseph Giordano dies in the motherhouse in Paris. Born on January 31, 1862.
