{"id":109796,"date":"2014-10-04T07:17:04","date_gmt":"2014-10-04T05:17:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vincentians.com\/?p=109796"},"modified":"2016-07-12T18:03:54","modified_gmt":"2016-07-12T16:03:54","slug":"twenty-seventh-sunday-in-ordinary-time-jose-antonio-pagola-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vincentians.com\/en\/twenty-seventh-sunday-in-ordinary-time-jose-antonio-pagola-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time (Jos\u00e9 Antonio Pagola)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Religious crisis<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The parable of the \u201cmurderous tenants\u201d<\/strong> is a story in which Jesus reveals allegorically step by step God\u2019s history with his chosen people.\u00a0 It is a sad story.\u00a0 God has taken care of them from the beginning with all tenderness.\u00a0 They were his \u201cchosen vineyard.\u201d\u00a0 He expected them to be a people exemplary for their justice and faithfulness.\u00a0 They would be a \u201cgreat light\u201d for all nations.<\/p>\n<p>Yet that people kept rejecting and killing one after another the prophets that God kept sending them in order to harvest the fruits of a more just life.\u00a0 Finally, in an incredible act of love, God sent his own Son.\u00a0 But the leaders of that people finished him off.\u00a0 <strong>What would God do with a people who betray his expectations in such a blind and stubborn manner?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The religious leaders who are listening attentively to the story answer spontaneously in the same words used in the parable: the landowner has no choice other than to put those tenants to death and turn the vineyard over to other hands.
