(Ross Reyes Dizon)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Fruit of righteousness that the Kingdom demands<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>The fruit of righteousness comes through Jesus Christ for the praise and glory of God.\u00a0 And those who remain in Jesus and he in them bear much fruit.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>God expects righteousness from his people.\u00a0 In fact, God&#8217;s people prove themselves before him through the fruit of righteousness that they bear.\u00a0 Bearing such fruit, they are the glory of Israel and the light of the nations also.<\/p>\n<p>But if they bear fruit of wickedness, God will leave them, then, in their stubbornness of heart.\u00a0 Besides, he will surely make those who are his cherished plant answer to him for their unjust deeds.\u00a0 Their malice will recoil on themselves and their violence will fall on their own heads also.\u00a0 And, of course, God will take their chosenness away from them and will give it to others who will be fruitful.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><em>Without bearing the fruit of righteousness, &#8220;the new people of God&#8221;\u009d will likewise be rejected.<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>We Christians call ourselves &#8220;the new vineyard&#8221;\u009d that God cherishes.\u00a0 It goes without saying that such name comes with responsibility.\u00a0 God expects us, yes, to be fruitful.<\/p>\n<p>Righteousness demands that we welcome the excluded, and that we show mercy to the poor and solidarity with those who suffer.\u00a0 And, in particular, we who claim to be Vincentians should examine ourselves.\u00a0 Are we truly faithful to the Vincentian charism?\u00a0 In trying to embody it, are we zealous or rather lukewarm?\u00a0 Tepidity makes for unfruitfulness.<\/p>\n<p>And we must take seriously St. Vincent de Paul&#8217;s warning (Abelly II:235):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We must fear &#8230; that God may take this harvest from us, for he gives his graces to others if we fail to use them as we ought.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong><em>Lord Jesus, through your obedience unto death, through your sacrifice, make us bear fruit of righteousness.\u00a0 Grant that we think about, and put into practice, whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, gracious, excellent and praiseworthy.<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>8 October 2017<br \/>\n27th Sunday in O.T (A)<br \/>\nIs 5, 1-7; Phil 4, 6-9; Mt 21, 33-43<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fruit of righteousness that the Kingdom demands The fruit of righteousness comes through Jesus Christ for the praise and glory of God.\u00a0 And those who remain in Jesus and he in them bear much fruit. &#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/vincentians.com\/en\/27-ot-dizonreyes-fruit\/\" class=\"more-link\">Read More<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":151052,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","default_image_id":0,"font":"","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[95],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-153790","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-homilies-and-reflections-year-a"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.3 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>27th Sunday in O.T.
