It is the product of a man failing in health, but one whose soul is cheerful and healthy. The author is a pilgrim to the Shrine of Compostella, that is, of St. James the Apostle, through whom Spain received the Christian faith. He has given us a lively picture of the country, of the habits and manners of the people, the origin and early stages of Spanish literature.
