1678 Fr. J. Barreau dies. Vincent asked that he be appointed the French Consul in Argel where later he was imprisoned and tortured because of his work with the slaves.
1856 Father Etienne writes to Alexander II, the Czar of Russia, asking him to look kindly upon the Vincentian foundations in Poland. The Czar never responds.
