1914 In 1914, because of the war, all French religious, including Vincentians, had to abandon Turkey. Fr. P. Lobry, Director of the DCs, was condemned to death but he managed to save himself. Not only the Vincentian Missionaries but also the DCs worked in such a dedicated way that the Pope congratulated the sons and daughters of St. Vincent for their work in the Orient.
