1648 In 1648, the first CM missioners arrive in Madagascar. During the next 25 years, 17 priests and 10 brothers were sent to this mission of whom one priest and 3 brothers were martyred.

1848 In 1848, Jose Marcial Mouly, C. M., first Bishop of Mongolia, dies in Peking. He had the courage to propose to Rome in 1840 a chinese priest for the episcopate.
